Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What types of issues do you treat?

I primarily work with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Treatment is grounded in structured, evidence-based theoretical approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, relational, and trauma-informed frameworks. Therapy is collaborative and individualized, with ongoing check-ins to assess effectiveness and ensure the approach continues to align with your goals and needs

  • What is your approach with psychotropic medication?

I do not view medication as a requirement for treatment. During the assessment process, if medication appears to be a helpful option, I will raise it for discussion so we can explore it together. Ultimately, the decision to use medication is always yours. If you choose to pursue medication, I can connect you with trusted prescribing providers and collaborate with them to support your care. If you already work with a prescriber, I am happy to coordinate treatment. I am also open to collaboration with integrative and alternative medicine practitioners.

  • I am very spiritual, can you include that into my treatment?

Yes. Your spiritual beliefs can be an important and meaningful part of your healing process. When relevant to your goals, I welcome integrating your spiritual perspective into treatment in a way that feels respectful, supportive, and aligned with your values. Spirituality is approached collaboratively and incorporated at your comfort level.

  • How long does treatment usually take?

There is no set time for human beings to heal from their wounds and issues. The length of treatment varies depending on your goals, needs, and life circumstances. Research shows that progress in therapy is strongly influenced by the quality of the therapeutic alliance — the collaborative relationship between client and therapist. Psychologist Edward Bordin described this alliance as shared goals, agreement on the work of therapy, and a trusting relationship. When this foundation is strong, therapy is more effective and can progress more efficiently. We will regularly review your goals and adjust the pace of treatment together.

  • What can I expect during my first sessions?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, review any necessary logistical details, and begin exploring the concerns that brought you to therapy. While a complete treatment plan is not finalized in the first session, we will work collaboratively to clarify goals and establish a treatment plan within the first month.

  • What is the difference between Coaching and Therapeutic Coaching?

Coaching is primarily future-focused and centers on goal-setting, accountability, and personal or professional growth. Therapeutic Coaching bridges coaching and psychotherapy by integrating psychological tools to address emotional patterns, limiting beliefs, and past experiences that may interfere with progress. While traditional coaching does not involve mental health treatment, therapeutic coaching does use treatment to support emotional insight and regulation to help people move forward more effectively
